Sophie Pelham
23 July, £8

What do UKIP supporting Lord Ponsanby, retired model Sulky Waterboat and alcoholic do-gooder Vanessa the Undresser have in common? Nothing… except a postcode. Character comedian Sophie Pelham (BBC: Miranda, Reggie Perrin) returns to the Fringe after the 2014 Edinburgh and Henley hit, ‘Marigold’ with a joyous satirical romp through rural village life in all its curtain twitching glory.

‘Extremely funny’ (Stage)
‘Fantastical funny… forcing those who watch to laugh aloud even while squirming within’ **** (BroadwayBaby.com).
‘One of the funniest shows of the year’ **** (Ham and High)

The JestThe Jest
23 July, £9

The Jest is a comedy quintet who present dark observational sketches with a subversive twist.

Recently slimmed down from nine-person sketch group Simply the Jest (who performed at the Edinburgh Fringe from 2011 to 2013).

‘What particularly lifts these guys above the average is their willingness to presume intelligence in their audiences … clever stuff’ (The List).
These two girls and three boys are ‘impressive … seriously witty … [and] very talented young performers’ (Broadway Baby).

Mixed DoublesMixed Doubles
24/25 July, £9

Sketch comedy quartet Mixed Doubles return to Henley with their distinctive brand of rapid-fire humour. Since forming in 2012, the collective of Paul, Megan, Will and Rose have won a Dave Comedy Award for their viral ‘Modern Conversation’, graced the airwaves of BBC Radio 4 as part of ‘Sketchorama’ and enjoyed acclaimed runs at both the Edinburgh and Adelaide Festivals in 2013/14 respectively. Drawing on a nostalgic blend of Not the Nine O’Clock News, Smack the Pony and Big Train, the group’s writing has a joyful and innocent quality, complimented by the killer punchlines and high-energy performances of this effervescent foursome. Double up. You won’t regret it.

‘One to watch…a real flair for the silly’ – Chortle
